Aker Stadion has served the Molde community well beyond the boundaries of league football in 2026, hosting a Minnekamp memorial match in July before a relentless run of Eliteserien and Toppserien fixtures. The packed calendar runs all the way to a Viking visit in December.
More Than a Football Ground
Aker Stadion has long been the spiritual home of Molde FK, but 2026 has reinforced just how central the venue is to life in Molde beyond the Eliteserien. The summer schedule burst into life on 13 July when the stadium hosted a Minnekamp — a community memorial match — with kick-off at 17:00, drawing the local community together in a setting normally reserved for league football.
The occasion came just days before the high-intensity Eliteserien visit of SK Brann, illustrating the range of roles the arena plays in the city.
A Venue Built for the Full Spectrum
Opened on 18 April 1998 and designed by Molde architect Kjell Kosberg, Aker Stadion was built at a cost of 212 million kroner, funded by Kjell Inge Røkke and Bjørn Rune Gjelsten. With a capacity of 11,249, the ground features a restaurant, café, ten kiosks and eight commentary boxes — infrastructure that supports everything from weekly league football to commemorative community events.
Artificial turf, installed in 2014, ensures the pitch remains in consistent condition across the long Norwegian season, right through to the final home fixtures in December.
A Calendar Packed Through to Midwinter
The fixture list stretching from August to December 2026 confirms that Aker Stadion will rarely sit idle. Eliteserien home games against KFUM Oslo, Aalesund, Start, Fredrikstad, Bodø/Glimt and Viking are all pencilled in alongside the ongoing Toppserien programme for Molde W — who have established Aker Stadion as their permanent home base for the entire 2026 season.
For a fjordside town of Molde's size, the depth of that calendar — spanning both men's and women's top-flight football, plus community occasions — cements Aker Stadion's status as far more than a matchday venue.
