Molde Sink Tromsø 3-2 in August's Standout Home Clash
Molde FK secured a 3-2 Eliteserien win over Tromsø at Aker Stadion on Sunday 16 August, the highlight of a packed home month at the fjordside arena. The result follows a 3-3 draw with Sarpsborg 08 at the same ground earlier in August. Aker Stadion now turns its attention to a Toppserien fixture on 22 August.
A Sunday to Remember at the Fjord
Molde FK's Eliteserien home match against Tromsø on 16 August lived up to its billing as August's standout fixture, with the hosts claiming a 3-2 victory at Aker Stadion. Kick-off was at 17:00, and the result moved Molde — fifth in the table with 24 points heading into the game — further up the Eliteserien standings.
The win will have provided significant relief after a frustrating 3-3 draw with Sarpsborg 08 at the same ground on 2 August, a result that had left points on the table at home.
Supporters Turn Out in Force
Aker Stadion, with its capacity of 11,249, again provided one of Norwegian football's most distinctive matchday backdrops — a granite and glass frontage looking out over the Molde fjord. Away supporters were reminded ahead of the fixture that the visiting section is restricted to the designated area of the Istad tribune, and that bottles and away colours are not permitted in other parts of the ground.
The stadium's full suite of matchday facilities — including a restaurant, a café and ten kiosks — ensured supporters were well catered for before and after the final whistle.
Tromsø Win Keeps August Momentum Going
The victory over Tromsø is the centrepiece of a three-fixture home month at Aker Stadion. Molde had already hosted Sarpsborg 08 at the start of August, and the stadium's busy schedule continues when Molde's women's side host LSK Kvinner W in a Toppserien clash on 22 August, with kick-off set for 14:00.
Tickets for all remaining home fixtures are available through the official Molde FK ticketing platform, with the next Eliteserien home game against KFUM pencilled in for 6 September.
