More Than Football: Aker Stadion at the Heart of Molde's Summer
From a community memorial match to top-flight Eliteserien action, Aker Stadion has been the beating heart of Molde this summer. The club is also teaming up with youth organisation MOT to encourage season-ticket holders to bring a friend to Sunday's home fixture. A packed schedule of Eliteserien and Toppserien games runs through to late August.
A Stadium That Never Stands Still
Aker Stadion's 2026 summer calendar has confirmed once again that the fjordside arena is far more than a matchday venue. On 13 July the ground hosted a Minnekamp — a community memorial match — with kick-off at 17:00, just days before the high-profile Eliteserien clash with SK Brann. The combination of a heartfelt community occasion and a top-flight league fixture in the same week encapsulates everything the stadium means to Molde.
Opened on 18 April 1998 and designed by local architect Kjell Kosberg, Aker Stadion was built at a cost of 212 million kroner, financed by Kjell Inge Røkke and Bjørn Rune Gjelsten. It has held 11,249 spectators since its inauguration and switched to an artificial turf surface in 2014, enabling matches throughout the Norwegian season.
Sesongkort-Holders Urged to Bring a Friend
With community spirit front of mind, Molde FK and youth organisation MOT have joined forces this week to put a spotlight on friendship and inclusion. The club is inviting the entire region to Aker Stadion on Sunday and encouraging season-ticket holders to bring a friend along to the match — a grassroots initiative that reflects the club's commitment to the wider Molde community.
The stadium is equipped with a restaurant, café, ten kiosks and eight commentary boxes, making it well-placed to welcome both regulars and first-time visitors alike.
What's Coming Up at Aker Stadion
The fixture list through late August gives supporters plenty to look forward to. In the Eliteserien, Molde host Sarpsborg 08 FF on 2 August and Tromsø on 16 August. The Toppserien provides additional colour on 22 August when Molde W take on LSK Kvinner W — a sign of the increasing importance of women's football to the stadium's programme.
Fans can secure seats for all upcoming home games through the official Molde FK ticketing platform.
