Aker Stadion welcomed Tromsø IL on Sunday 16 August for a Round 17 Eliteserien fixture, the second of three home matches for Molde FK in August alone — the club's busiest home month of the 2026 season. Kick-off was set for 17:00, with the stadium's capacity of 11,249 providing the backdrop for what was billed as an important points match for a Molde side sitting fifth in the table at the time.
Supporters attending the match were subject to thorough entry searches, with bottles prohibited throughout the ground. Away supporters were directed exclusively to field K on the Istad tribune, with Tromsø colours barred from the Sparebanken Møre, Sylte and south-side stands.
Women's Football Takes Centre Stage
With the Tromsø match barely behind them, Aker Stadion turned its attention to the women's game just six days later. On 22 August, Molde W hosted LSK Kvinner W in Round 13 of the 2026 Toppserien, with kick-off scheduled for 12:00. The fixture was the latest chapter in a season-long arrangement that has made Aker Stadion the full-time home of Molde's women's side in 2026.
The stadium's facilities — including its restaurant, café and ten kiosks — catered to the different audience that a midday Toppserien fixture attracts compared to a Sunday evening Eliteserien clash, demonstrating the versatility that has made the ground central to football in Molde across both genders.
What Comes Next
With the August double-header complete, eyes turn to the autumn programme. KFUM visit on 6 September, followed by Aalesund on 19 September, as the Eliteserien push continues at the fjordside venue. The artificial pitch, installed in 2014, ensures fixtures can continue well beyond the point when natural grass would give out, with the final home league game of 2026 — against Viking — scheduled for 6 December.
