With home Eliteserien fixtures scheduled all the way through to December, the fjordside arena faces its most demanding autumn programme in years.
From Memorial Match to Midwinter Derby
Aker Stadion's 2026 season has already proven to be one of its most varied and emotionally charged in years. The summer opened with a Minnekamp — a memorial match — on 13 July 2026, a community occasion that demonstrated how the stadium functions as far more than just a league football venue. Days later, the stands were packed again for the Eliteserien visit of SK Brann.
That breadth of purpose is precisely what sets Aker Stadion apart in Norwegian football. Within a single summer week, the ground moved from a moment of communal remembrance to one of the season's most anticipated competitive fixtures.
Looking Ahead to the Autumn
With the league season stretching deep into December, Aker Stadion's fixture list is far from complete. Molde FK are scheduled to host a string of Eliteserien opponents in the months ahead, including KFUM, Aalesund, Start, Fredrikstad, Bodø/Glimt and Viking — the latter pencilled in for 6 December in what could be a season-defining final home match.
The upcoming home run gives supporters plenty to look forward to, with the prospect of crucial late-season points battles played out beneath the Romsdal mountains.
A Venue Built for the Community
Originally built at a cost of 212 million kroner — funded by Kjell Inge Røkke and Bjørn Rune Gjelsten — and designed by local architect Kjell Kosberg, Aker Stadion was inaugurated on 18 April 1998. It holds 11,249 spectators and is equipped with a restaurant, café, ten kiosks and eight commentary boxes.
Its location by the Romsdalsfjord gives it one of the most scenic settings in Scandinavian sport, and its dual role as a community and competitive venue continues to define its identity more than two decades after opening.
